Icelandic Horses
Horses of Iceland are stocky, shaggy, gentle horses brought by the early Viking settlers. Some think that they may be of Mongolian heritage. A law passed in 982 prohibits the import of other breeds of horse into Iceland. The Icelandic horses have been bred pure for over 1000 years.
